Courses

The courses will start again in April 2024 - stay tuned for more information

Workshops take place every Saturday at noon, having 3 age groups at the same time to make it comfortable for parents with multiple kids.

UDesign, as a project, commenced its activities during the initial month of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. With substantial experience in working with children at children's camps and other non-profit educational organizations, Oleksandra Yeloyeva and Dandika Thanos began to rally like-minded individuals to initiate creative workshops for children who the war had displaced. Throughout its operation, the project team organized more than 200 creative workshops, over 10 excursions, 5 public presentations showcasing children's projects combined with open lectures, and a complete festival in support of the project.

Originating from immersing children in creative activities and the art of design, the project gradually evolved into an educational organization seeking to tailor its approach to each age group of children. The project employs design to ignite children's creativity and problem-solving skills, simultaneously providing insights into theoretical and technical frameworks. Moreover, the workshops will equip Ukrainian children with the inspiration and skillset necessary for contributing to the future rebuilding and redesigning of their homeland. This approach, emphasizing rapid adaptation, critical thinking, and self-reflection, aims to empower, offer hope, and cultivate a design-oriented perspective on the world.

Taught by professionals in the field of architecture and urban planning, students will learn the design process of public and private spaces and acquire the basic set of skills every architect needs. From drawing sketches and floor plans to model making, each student will have their architecture project at the end of the course.
